Civic Enterprises] This study examines U.S. media print coverage of the topic of poverty and politics from 2003 through 2007. Comparing the last pre-presidential year with 2007, we found a dramatic increase in the number of stories that mention “politics,” “candidate,” and “poverty.”

The Emerging Politics of Globalization (Democratic Leadership Council) [with Mark Penn] This report describes the complex public opinions on globalization - how Americans feel a sense of optimism about the nation's future in a global economy and a sense of personal anxiety about how this new world will affect them. Top Ten National Newspapers and Ten Gulf Coast Newspapers (Partnership for Public Service)
A media content analyis of the coverage from the top ten U.S. papers
(by circulation) and a sampling of ten Gulf Coast newspapers near areas
affected by Hurricane Katrina between Aug. 24th, 2005 and July 21st,
2006. The study indicates that while Katrina coverage far
surpassed any recent event other than the 9/11 attacks, stories about
poverty and potential 'lessons learned' from Katrina constituted only a
very small portion.
Winning America's Future (Democratic Leadership Council)

for state and local leaders on dealing successfully with the challenges of
globalization. The book, with a forward by the current Treasurer of Delaware and the
Governor of Iowa, is divided into three sections, with ideas for raising the bar in education,

Alliance to End Hunger, finding that despite the apparent polarization
that characterizes the current political discourse, the American public

genuine problems, approaching the issues with a mixture of optimism
that the problem can be solved and some skepticism about the
